Composer
James Jumonville has created works for orchestra,
chamber ensemble, voice, guitar, and various
instruments. He has also composed for animated
films, film shorts, television commercials, as well
as music in the popular and jazz idioms. He is
currently working on an animation series, working
in collaboration with writers, animators, and
actors. In 2006, he had his
String Quartet, No. 1
performed at Southwestern University’s “Composer’s
Collective.” In 2005, he composed music for the
short student film,
Livelihood.
In 2004, through collaboration with producers in
Hollywood, California via telephone and Internet,
he composed the music for short student films and
commercials.
James was born in Texas and grew up in Spain in a military household. He joined the US Navy as a combat hospital corpsman after graduating from high school. During his active service, James took courses in computer studies. Being active duty gave him more opportunities to travel besides being stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Sicily, Italy, such as Turkey, Holland, France, Germany, Portugal, and Gibraltar. In 2002, after serving six years active duty he began his composition and theory studies under Dr. Craig Nazor. He graduated from Southwestern University at Georgetown, TX in 2007 and studied under Dr. Jason Hoogerhyde while there. He is a member of BMI and has recently completed a film score course at Berklee School of Music.
